• Jim wins at Silverstone!

The first race of the Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic was held at Silverstone on the Club circuit on April 30th. A respectable grid of 24 classic Ferraris turned up for the race.

Jamie showed promise for the race qualifying 2nd on the grid behind Gary Culver. Ben was not so promising with a disappointing 6th.

In the race Chris Butler made his usual rocket start and jumped from 3rd to first before the first corner, outgunning pole man Culver and Jim. Ben made it up into 4th. Jim also passed Culver on the first corner and made a move on Butler into turn 2 claiming the lead. Culver hounded Butler for the next few laps until eventually finding his way passed and soon disappeared in pursuit of Jamie who had pulled a lead of several seconds. This left Butler, Ben and Jenkins to fight for 3rd position. It was an epic dice between Ben and Butler and Jenkins was always threatening in Bens mirrors waiting to take advantage of any mistake made by the tussling 328’s in front. Ben eventually made a move up the inside into Becketts and was clear of Butler. Meanwhile Culver was gaining on Jim who had struggled with back markers and was only a few seconds behind Jim as he took the chequered flag. Ben pulled a few seconds on Butler and remained 3rd until the finish. Jenkins spun attempting to pass Butler into Becketts taking the pressure off Chris who crossed the line in 4th. Jim was thrilled to take the win in the first race of the series as was Ben taking third overall and first in class.

We now look forward to Donington which is a double header on the 28th/29th of May. We always see a strong grid at Donington and the Open race is an awsome spectacle with the 458 Challenge cars now running in the series. We hope to see you there!
