• Ben to tackel the Wimbleball Iron Man 70.3 this Sunday 17th June !

This Sunday the 17th of June Ben Cartwright will be pushing his fittness to the limit by taking part in the 70.3 Ironman in Wimbleball, Somerset http://www.ironmanuk.com/uk-ironman-703 . This gruelling event entails a 1.2 mile open water swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run across the challenging Exmoor terrain.

Ben has been training hard for several months pounding the Derbyshire peaks come rain or shine and is looking forward to the challenge, whilst at the same time raising funds for his local Mencap charity, where he has been a volunteer for over 8 years. All donations go directly to the charity and Ben has funded all aspects of this Challenge himself.

Darley Dale Mencap has been running for over 20 years and is funded solely by public donations and run by a small team of dedicated volunteers. The club is open to adults of all abilities and ages and hosts a variety of events and activities, including sports, crafts, drama and days out.

If you would like to support Ben in his challenge and make a donation to Matlock Mencap you can either make an online donation at: http://www.justgiving.com/Ben-Cartwright2  or post a cheque made payable to Matlock Mencap to:

Units 3 & 4, Brookfield Ind Est., Tansley, Matlock, De4 5FY (Please make cheques payable to Matlock Mencap).

Your support is greatly appreciated and will help to improve the great services that Matlock Mencap continues to offer its members.

We will look forward to reporting Ben’s successful achievement, along with photos at the beginning of next week!
